Gas
Power and heatCareful handling of gas pipes
As a fossil fuel, gas is an important raw material for heating residential as well as commercial premises. As it is flammable, explosive, colourless and usually odourless, it must be handled with care.
The specialists at Kraft&Wärme are highly trained in this field and have extensive expertise in laying gas pipes. Both open and trenchless construction methods can be used. Depending on the material, such as PE or steel pipes, we will always find the right solution for your project.
Open pipeline construction
The method of laying pipes in open trenches is probably the most traditional construction method in this field and has been one of our specialities for decades.
The Kraft&Wärme team is highly trained in the installation of all types and sizes of pipe materials. Of course, we also carry out repairs on existing pipes.
Trenchless pipeline construction
In addition to open pipeline construction, we also have extensive expertise in trenchless pipeline construction. Depending on the specific requirements, we select one of the following methods:
burst lining or expansion pulling.
The static bursting method is a cost-effective, modern method that can be used to increase the pipe dimension compared to the old pipe. We replace or renew pipes made of metallic or brittle materials, including PE, steel, grey cast iron, PVC or fibre cement, underground and without causing any vibrations.
The pull rod is inserted through the old pipe. At one end of the pull rod is a cutting head suitable for the respective pipe material, and at the other end is a hydraulically operated pulling device.
The old pipe is cut open as the rod is pulled. At the same time, a cone expands the cross-section. By cutting and expanding at the same time, it is possible to pull in a new pipe and increase the new pipe dimension compared to the old pipe.
Lining process with annular space.
In addition to burst lining, the lining process is also a cost-effective and, above all, simple method of renewing existing pipes, either in short or long pipes.
The first step is to clean, calibrate and inspect the pipe using a camera. A pull rope or pull rod is then used. The new product pipe, which has a smaller cross-section, is pulled into the old one. This leaves an annular space between the old and new pipes, which can also be filled if necessary.
The pulling forces acting on the pipe are precisely documented at all times to ensure that the permissible tensile forces of the pipe material to be pulled in are not exceeded.
- Short pipe lining: This method is used when the pipe installation pit is longer than the factory length of the pipes to be installed. The pipe connections are made in the construction pit itself.
- Long pipe lining: Here, the pipes are first welded into a pipe string outside the construction pit and then pulled in.
RehabilitationStarline 200/2000
When performing rehabilitation of existing gas pipes, the Kraft&Wärme team relies on the Starline 200/2000 process, which was specially developed for this purpose.
The first step is to clean the inside of the pipe using sandblasting. Next, a fabric hose impregnated with a two-component epoxy resin and coated with a gas-tight inner coating is inserted using a reversal process. We then initiate the curing process of the epoxy resin with the aid of circulating hot water.
This makes it possible to renovate up to five 90° bends per house connection without creases, depending on the dimensions. The fabric hose bonded to the inner wall of the pipe also forms a high-quality, dense lining that is only 1-2 mm thick. The statics of the old structure are sufficient to absorb the earth pressure.
